Post-operative care

Post-operative Care

When surgery is completed, you will be taken to the recovery room for a period of close observation. Your blood pressure, heart rate, breathing, and body temperature will be closely monitored by the recovery room staff. Special attention will be given to your circulation and sensation in your feet and legs.

The condition being treated will determine whether or not you will be required to use crutches when you leave the hospital and the length of time that the crutches may be necessary. Your surgeon will provide specific information regarding your own post-operative plan.

Steps for rehabilitation following arthroscopic hip surgery vary from surgeon to surgeon. To learn what activities will be involved in your own rehabilitation, consult your surgeon.
